Honestly, I look at our life every day, and even though it comes with its challenges and tribulations, I feel like I am living in a dream. I could not be more grateful to have dove into this project with Kurt because he is so incredibly driven to make this a reality for us. He works so hard every single day to make sure we are making strides to change our lives for the better. In so many ways, we are blessed. It's not where we want it to be yet but I can see it coming together right before my eyes.
For everyone, what they want in life or on their homestead is totally different. I thought it would be nice to share what my dream for our homestead looks like. For those of you who don't know me personally, kids and serving those around me is my passion in life. It fills my cup to see how even the smallest things can impact the lives of those around us for the better. My dream is to be able to utilize our farm to be able to do just that. I want to create camps, after school programs and much more that can teach our youth valuable skills like gardening, caring for animals and other life skills. I believe it is important for kids to get outside and be kids. They learn so much through their own experiences. Developing their fine and gross motor skills, along with challenging them mentally and socially in real life situations is so beneficial. Allowing them to have the space to make mistakes and solve problems on their own is something that can really change the way a child carries themselves in the world.
We live in a world that is so flooded with technology that sometimes we forget the benefits of stepping away from it and being present in the world. Now, don't take that the wrong way. I think that technology is incredibly important too. However, it serves a purpose and knowing when to put it down and just go out and experience things is what gives us balance in life. I could go on and on about technology when it comes to kiddos. I am a certified parent instructor so I have many thoughts on many things about raising kids but that is a topic for another time. But if you ever want to talk parenting strategies, let me know!
Back on track, I want to cultivate a space that allows our youth of all ages opportunities to explore and discover. I dream of providing programming that can be individualized for each kid so that they can dive into topics that spark their interest. Introducing children to things like gardening and raising animals helps them understand how the world works and in turn helps them better well-rounded individuals.
With that all being said, I think whatever we end up doing on the farm will be amazing as long as we get to help others and help ourselves along the way.
